We fast for many reasons, but the main purpose given in Scripture for fasting is in response to a grievous, sacred moment; an offering of our whole self to God in prayer.

As you consider how to direct your prayers this week, here are some examples of grievous, sacred moments that may help you identify your invitation into prayer and fasting.

SIN, SHAME, & DOUBT:

  • Pursuit of holiness

  • Vices, addictions, sin that has hold of your heart

  • Harm you’ve done to others

BROKENNESS & LOSS:

  • Death, grief

  • Relational rupture, church pain

  • Harm done to you

  • Vocational loss, loss of dream, disappointments

  • Loneliness, abandonment

FAMILY & LOVED ONES:

  • Healing from chronic pain or illness

  • Salvation for family members

  • Child to return to God

  • Breaking of generational sin

HEALTH:

  • Healing from chronic pain or suffering

LOCAL OR NATIONAL CRISIS:

  • The state of our world

  • Injustice, wars

We will be gathering to remember the cross, the great sacrifice of Jesus, on Good Friday, April 3rd.

We will contemplate, experience, and respond to the stations of the cross in our gathering, as we wrap up this season of Lent and fasting.

All are welcome.
