Table Liturgy for:
December 28th, 2025

Gather together around the table, perhaps around a meal or drinks.

Light a candle in the middle of the table if there is one available.

Rejoice

Let us rejoice in the season that has come to pass (Advent) and the calendar year that is now winding down.

Read this Psalm aloud:

Psalm 30:4-5
Sing the praises of the Lord, you his faithful people;
praise his holy name.
For his anger lasts only a moment,
but his favor lasts a lifetime;
weeping may stay for the night,
but rejoicing comes in the morning.

Take time to share your joys or sorrows (or both) from the past season or the past year.

Read

Let’s take time to read John 1:1-18 aloud.
Read the passage slowly with pauses following each line this will allow the verses to flow over us and its truths to encourage us.

Reflect

Reflect on the glorious truth that God dwelt in the flesh amongst us in creation through Jesus, and has brought the light of salvation to us.

Reflect on where you’ve seen Jesus moving in your life this past year or week?

Where do you still see darkness that you want to invite Jesus into?

You may share this in your group.

Reflect on how and where you can bring the Light of Jesus into the lives of the people you encounter everyday or that you may encounter this week or the weeks ahead.

(A few minutes of silence followed by sharing, if desired.)

Pray the Lord’s Prayer

“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,

your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us today our daily bread.

And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

For Yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever.

Amen.”

Pray for Specific Needs

Take some time to pray for the needs of your family, friends, neighbors, local community, nation, and the world.
Let the Spirit lead you and guide you as you pray.

Closing Prayer

One person may read this out loud as a prayer to close (aside from the individual prayers above):.

Shed upon your Church, O Lord, the brightness of your light; that we, being illuminated by the your Word, may so walk in the light of your truth, that at length we may attain to the fullness of eternal life; through Jesus Christ our Lord who live and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, One God, forever and ever. Amen
